KNVB = Koninklijke Nederlandse Voetbalbond = Royal Dutch Football Association

 Why the Royal Dutch FA?

One of the most exciting experiences I had was digging into the catalogs in the Amsterdam Archives in 2016. I was looking for more data about my merchant family in the 19th century, who regularly visited Amsterdam. I learned about so many amazing people in a short time.

Even just the catalogs are magical...

Why more?

Every time, before I got my visa to New Zealand, I had to talk with officers from La Hague.

Why more?

I have a few more people to mention, like a Dutch mentor from the University of Copenhagen.

A Polish-Dutch Art PhD person who graduated from the London Art Academy. She was pregnant at the same time, like me, and we gave birth on the same week...

What helped to get to understand the logic?

Mentalization on what Arne Slot would do in Liverpool F.C.

What was the first course I took?

It was connected with cards! The referee's cards :)))

Where to start?

1. Instructie assistent-scheidsrechters = Instructions for assistant referees

The aim of the module is:

To learn about your role as an assistant referee. You will learn about your contact with the referee and how you position yourself towards the teams. You will learn about your tasks in the match and you will learn what resistance is and how to deal with it.

2. Mentale weerbaarheid scheidsrechters = Mental resilience of referees

About the course:

Participants go through a digital competition day and gain insight into the different choices they can make to prevent resistance.

Your role as referee together with the players you are responsible for a sporting match. As a referee, you play a serving role together with the assistants to make that possible.

In this way, you contribute to a sporting competition that takes place according to the rules, in a pleasant atmosphere and without incidents.

How to do that, you will learn in this online course. We start with an exercise. On the next screen, you will see a video about an important phase of a match.

And at the contacts you make with all the people involved in the match: the people in the boardroom, the assistants, the captains and coaches, and the players on the field. We start with the way you approach people in everyday life.
